LexMastery (“LexMastery”, “we”, “us”) builds AI-powered exam prep for the SQE and UBE/NextGen Bar. This policy explains what data we collect across our website and mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
Account information. Name, email address, and password (or your Google/Apple account identifier if you sign in that way) when you create an account.
Study & progress data. Your chosen track and exam date, answers, scores, readiness ring history, streaks, study plan settings, and written or oral submissions you make in drills and mocks.
Voice & audio data. If you use oral stations or talk to Jessica, we process the audio you record to transcribe and mark your response. See AI Processing & Voice Features below.
Device & usage data. Device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and general usage analytics (for example, which features you open and how often) so we can keep the app reliable.
Payment data. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation of your purchase and entitlement status, not your card details, which the app stores handle directly.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide, personalize, and maintain your study plan, drills, mocks, and readiness score.
- Mark written and oral submissions and generate feedback.
- Send study reminders, streak alerts, and weekly reports you have opted into.
- Diagnose crashes, secure accounts, and improve app performance.
- Respond to support requests and communicate account or policy changes.
AI Processing & Voice Features
Written stations, oral stations, and Shadow Tutor are powered by third-party AI and voice-synthesis providers acting as our data processors. The text or audio you submit for a task is sent to these providers to generate a transcript, a marking response, or a spoken reply, and is processed under contractual terms that prohibit them from using your data to train their own models.
Audio you record is used to produce your transcript and mark your response, then handled per the retention terms in Data Retention. We do not sell voice recordings or use them for advertising.
Data Retention
We keep account and study data for as long as your account is active, so your progress and readiness score stay accurate. Audio recordings from oral stations are retained only as long as needed to produce and let you review your transcript and mark, then deleted. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within 90 days, except where we must retain it to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular review of our systems, to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to minimize risk and respond quickly to any incident.
Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can update most account information directly in the app, manage notification preferences in Settings, or contact us to exercise these rights. Residents of the EEA, UK, and California have specific statutory rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, and the CCPA respectively; we honor requests from all users on the same basis.
Children's Privacy
LexMastery is built for aspiring solicitors and lawyers preparing for professional exams and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
International Data Transfers
We and our service providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States and the United Kingdom. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect data transferred internationally.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as our product or legal obligations change. We will update the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email before they take effect.
